Goth? Ghoulish? Rachel Federoff and Destin Pfaff—We Call ‘em Gorgeous!

On a rainy September weekend in New York City,Rachel Federoff and her longtime beau, Destin Pfaff, the lovable stars of Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker” hit TV show, got hitched themselves!

Rachel, Destin and Patti

Rachel purchased her one-of-a-kind Atelier Aimee gown from our store..seeing how she has a style all her own ( part Bette Paige, part Goth, part Rockabilly, part punk-rock) we knew it would have to be something totally unique, slightly goth, but because on the inside she is such a a sweet, kind and ‘normal’ girl, we knew it still had to be timeless and elegant….
Obviously this was NOT an easy task!

Rachel Federoff

Rachel found our store by searching for “Black and White wedding gowns” on Google. She came across the Italian designer Atelier Aimee, and their incredibly gorgeous Black and white collection; see here:

Since Lili Bridals is the only retailer in California to carry this line, Rachel immediately called us to make an appointment…. Our fabulous & creative long-time consultant, Maria met with her…and if you can believe, this picture is very similar to what Rachel’s dress looked like on the rack:

What Rachel's dress originally looked like

One of the cool things about Lili Bridals is that we have great creativity and vision. So together with Rachel’s creative flair & ideas, we came up with her incredible gown!

The Ivory tulle at the bottom & train was replaced with black, and the GORGEOUS swarovski crystal side grommets were laced with black ribbon.

For the finishing touch, Adam, the Owner/designer of Lori London Millinery flew out from North Carolina, and custom created a feather-flower with red accents for the gown adornment, as well as her INCREDIBLE feather-flower cage veil. The red was the PERFECT compliment to her black and white gown, and was an homage to the red bangs she is known for. Oh, when they are not pink or purple, that is !  :)

Great side view of details!

P.S. I was SO touched and honored to have been invited to Rachel and Destin’s small and intimate wedding…I truly feel like family!

Enjoy!

Love, Lisa

  1. Oh I am a huge fan of Atelier Aimee, which is a wonderful line not many bridal salons carry–Lili Bridals is THE place for So Cal brides to find these luscious dresses. Thanks for the sneak peek on Rachel’s wedding dress. I was really curious about what she would end up wearing for her wedding. What a stunning choice!

L.A. Brides’ Got Sole!

Welcome back to the Lili Pad!

Bridal shoes are not of the white dyeable satin variety anymore! ( thank goodness!)

When thinking of what my next topic should be for the Lili Pad, I came across one of our brides AMAZING , funky, totally fantastic red shoes she was planning to wear for her August 20th wedding…. Light bulb!

Subject..check!

So my search of Lili Bridals’ funky wedding shoes was on! The very next day, I found a few more…then a few more. I discovered the most colorful and fantastic shoes that were being worn by our brides happened to be getting married and /or having fittings all in the month of August! From sexy & vampy to tennis shoes…None were ordinary..all were fabulous!

So enjoy just one month of totally crazy-funky-original non-white bridal shoes worn by the brides of Lili in Tarzana, CA!

I hope you’ll enjoy these as much as I did!

So best wishes to all our brides, and keep being creative and original, not just in your choice of shoes..but in life as well! :)

Enjoy!

Love,

Lisa

By the way, trust me there was even more fabulous footwear, but unfortunately I did not have my camera handy for all! :(

Noir by Lazaro

Welcome back to the Lili Pad!

Bridesmaids! The name conjures up all kinds of horrible images of poufy-sleeved-pepto-bismol-colored atrocities of the polyester world.

Well, I am here to tell you that this does not have to be! There ARE dresses that are actually labeled “bridesmaid” dresses that are cute, wearable , and will not have you running to the goodwill drop-box on your way home from your besties wedding!!

It warms a bridal shop-owners heart to hear the words: “ OMG I love this bridesmaids dress! It’s adorable and I can’t wait to wear it again” Words I am hearing A LOT lately in our shop (I swear)

What bridesmaids dress could possibly be prompting these complimentary words from the mouths of maids?

Here are some examples:

Amsale Maids

Amsale Maids , available short or long

FYI: What makes these dresses better than buying off-the-rack from a department store? The fact that they are available to order in a minimum of 12-40 colors, as well as sizes up to 24-28!

You can also choose a color and a fabic and have your friends each wear a different dress..what a great look, and you will be sure to make your pals happy as a ..well, as a bridesmaid in a cute dress they’re excited to wear again! :)

So come on in and ask to see our newest collection of Fall 2011 ‘maids’ dresses!

Hope to see you soon!

  1. I adore the Noir by Lazaro collection for both Maids and Moms. How great is it to have a chic outfit for the wedding that you can wear again to other formal occasions? And I know you and your consultants would never let a bridesmaid leave your salon looking poufy and silly! Not on your watch!!

It’s All in The Details

Welcome back to the Lili Pad!

Accessories! Every girl loves a little bling. But more often than not, this is the overlooked detail when choosing a wedding gown. Carefully selecting every last detail of your wedding ensemble will help complete your look to perfection and help take it from “lovely” to OMG!
At Lili Bridals, one the things we are most proud of is our vast collection of gorgeous accessories. We have a myriad of custom veils, handmade silk flowers, feathers, headbands and tiaras. Brides can get overwhelmed as to what to chose: cathedral veil, or fingertip, raw edge, ribbon edge, mantilla, cage veil, hairpins, headbands, tiara, veil, no veil…..etc. etc.

There are so many choices, it can make you dizzy!

You need guidance! You need advice! This is where we come in….
For this, our second Lili Pad post, we have “interviewed”, if you will, several of our top gown and accessory designers, and asked them for the most useful ‘trinkets’ of advice when it comes to choosing bridal accessories:

Laura Jayne Couture Accessories

“Even if you think your heart is set on the ‘one’ veil or headpiece you saw on television or in your favorite bridal magazine, make sure you have some fun and try other shapes and lengths. You may see an entirely new ‘you’ staring back in the mirror.”

~Jennifer Leigh, owner/designer Jennifer Leigh Veils

Laura Jayne Couture Accessories

To answer your burning questions as to what length to wear your veils:
“First and foremost, when looking at your veil, think about the gown you are wearing it with…look at the ‘break lines’ of the gown, where it already has a horizontal line ( i.e waistline, sash, etc) You want the veil to hit 1-2” BELOW the ‘break’ line, in order to give room for your veil to flow, without interfering with the natural style lines of the dress. “

~Adam Yaseen, owner, designer of Lori London Bridal Millinery

Finally, for those of you who may be contemplating being “accessory-less”, thinking less-is more, read on:

“It is extremely important to bring balance to all the white in your gown by bringing brightness to your face and your hair. A little bit of bling brings light to your face and lets your love shine”

~Amy Michelson, Gown designer & style consultant

And there you have it! We hope this helps clear up the dizzies in choosing your bridal accessories just a bit! In the meantime, have fun shopping for, and choosing your gorgeous accessories for your big day!

Love,
Lisa

Welcome to The Lili Pad

Hello Lili Pad Brides!

I’m Lisa, owner of Lili Bridals. I am delighted to be introducing a NEW blog especially for YOU! I can’t wait to bring you fresh new bridal trends and fun ideas, so you will look divine at your dream wedding!

Lisa Litt - Lili Bridals

My Store Story

Lili (our namesake) was my grandmother. In 1958, my father started Lili Bridals as a way to entice my grandmother to move from Milwaukee to Los Angeles to be with her children. The plan was that Dad had the New York evening-wear and bridal connections, and he would do some light bookkeeping. Lili would sew, and of course tend to the brides.

Not soon after the doors opened, they had a line of brides around the corner waiting to get in! The little store that was just supposed to be just something for my grandmother to do was a hit and soon needed the attention of the entire family, as well as a lot of AMAZING employees.

I literally grew up in the store where I learned from the BEST of the best. I truly miss all the wonderful women who literally brought me up in the store. Everyday their memories live in me, because I use the knowledge and lessons learned from them.
1958 to 2011. Wow! What a journey! I am so proud to be a part of my family’s legacy and truly hope that Lili Bridals will continue to touch the lives of brides and their families for many years to come.

Come back and visit soon. I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much I enjoy writing it for you.
Thank you so much for landing on our “Lili Pad”! :)

Love,
Lisa
